A Canadian, Eh?!

I love Canada.
Despite that I was born in Hong Kong, I see myself as a Canadian. Growing up in this beautiful country was the most rewarding experience. The is the place where I met my most valuable friends, a country that provides my family with almost free education and medication, and a place where I gain my many first time experiences such as
the spectacular moment when I saw rainbow and snow for the very first time,
camping in a rainy weather with no shower room or washroom,
snowboarding down the hill at full speed completely ignoring all the bruises and the ugly ski jacket,
watching Canada won the Winter Olympic 2010 gold medal hockey game at the actual game is something that I will definitely share with my grandchildren when I am old,
 and much much more.
This look is to show my Canadian pride.
Happy Canada Day!!

Butterfly

"In my world, everyone's a pony and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflies!"
- Dr. Seuss

The world would be so beautiful if we all live in Dr. Seuss's fantasy! Since I was little, I was always fascinated by the life cycle and the beauty of a butterfly but I was never lucky enough to end up in a classroom (elementary school) that taught butterflies and I heard the students actually get to see how a real caterpillar turn into a butterfly. Instead, I ended up in  a class that taught frogs which I had extreme phobia for! So even years from now, I am still very in love with butterflies and a year ago, my friend and I did something extremely foolish. The story began when we found a couple of tiny "caterpillars" on a tree and we were extremely excited that each of us kept two in a jar. We were feeding them with leaves and watching them grow day by day. Not long while, we began seeing "cocoon" forming which add even more to our excitement. After a few days, the "caterpillars" began shedding their "cocoons" but instead of butterflies, we found four transformed worms came out.  And of course, our reaction was two women screaming like crazy and instantly we threw them away. Yes, two silly women in their twentys were feeding and staring at who-know-what-they-are furry worms for all those times. Fun times!

So, today I brought to you a look inspired by the beauty of a butterfly. Let me know what you guys think.

Masculine Side of Me

From all of my previous posts, I have show you the very feminine side of me. You guys get to see me dressing up as a bad girl, a Barbie, a robot in a white dress, and so on but rarely have I dress in a manly outfit which was basically what I mostly wore when I was little. I was raised like a boy when I was young. Back then, I did not care much about my looks as long as someone (in this case my aunt since I was staying at her place then) told me I look good in it and this was how I got my ugly boy hairstyle with straight bangs and close to a mushroom shape. Just by imagining it, I am sure you know how stupid I look! Aside from the "awesome" hairstyle, I had a horrible sense of style. I would throw on a t-shirt and baggy pants and probably wore the same outfit for a week without changing it. I played basketball with the boys. I literally look and act like a boy. I don't even remember how many people or parents had mistaken me as a boy. So you ask when did I transform back to a girl? It was when I moved in with my new guardian who was a fashion designer before I entered high school. She would criticized and laughed at what I wore and that was when I really started to care about how I look. Her criticism had opened my eyes and see how ugly I was back then. From that time onward, I have never cut my hair short again (except for the cancer drive).

I brought up this little boy story of me because today I wanted to show you my military look - a rather masculine look of me. This look is inspired by the music video of Katy Perry's part of me. My friend and my sister think I look a little bit scary, do you think so?

Back from the Desert

This new set of photos I brought to you today is inspired by the biba look back in the 1960s and 1970s and I added a light touch of gypsy style to complete my look by tying a scarf around my head.  I have always love the way how gypsy dressed (yes, I have weird taste) and my friend used to tease me by calling me a gypsy.

This photo shoot was taken at a property where the house was recently tear down and next to the leftover woods and smashed walls sits a bulldozer. When I saw that pretty thing, I suddenly had the craziest idea that I want to do a photo shoot with the bulldozer and this is what I've done. I found this place totally by driving randomly around my neighborhood. What I did not expect was how exhausting this photo shoot will be. The ground was piled with shattered woods and boards and to walk with heels on was no easy task. To make it even worst, I have to walk back and forth to set the timer of the camera. During this entire picture taking process, ten seconds timer feels like a three second timer in which it took me nine seconds to walk to the destination (it was only about five steps away), and I am only left with one second to pose. The entire picture taking process was so exhausting and dusty that after the photo shoot, I look like I just came back from the desert.

And here are the photos!

A Happy Ending to the Previous Chapter, May the New Journey Begin!

"School's out, Memories past, Don't ever doubt, Our friendship will last.”
- Unknown
Thank you all for the kind and loving comments from the previous post! All of your comments really means a lot to me and I would definitely respond to all the sweet comments that you left for me except that I know I am a little behind lately (sorry). My wheel of emotion has finally swung back to the top and I am back to my happy self!

Today is my best friend's graduation and I am super happy for her! Our group of closed friends and her family have all went to her convocation to celebrate this special day with her. There were a lot of funny moments while we are all trying to take pictures of her walking across the stage such as I was too focus on taking random pictures to test my camera's exposure that I didn't realize she already walked past me, her mother was so happy to see her walking across the stage that she forgot to press record on her camcorder, my other friend has to fight with a man for a spot to take picture, etc. In the end, all of us fail to take a decent picture of her on stage. After her convocation, we did our most Asian thing and that is her parents treat us for dim sum YAY! The day can't get merrier with the sunny shining brightly upon Vancouver!  Once again, I would like to congratulate her on this big day and wish her the very best on her new journey!

Tears

I have been going through emotional turmoil because of something that happened yesterday. (For those who knows me well, this is not about my sister so not to worry) I am the type of person who gets emotional when something upset me and I cannot control how I feel. I act like patients with depression who does not feel like doing anything and has difficulty concentrating. I know this has always been my biggest weakness and that I wish that someday I can build a sense of inner peace like Po's master in Kung Fu Panda. Thankfully, the sun shine some light to Vancouver which lighten up my day a little today and I come up with this look.

My makeup today is based on the theme teary eyes. This look is inspired entirely from my own tears and emotions. Let me know what you guys think.

Happy Birthday to My Sister/First makeup tutorial - Rainbow Makeup!

"The best gift I can give you today is to pass on my dreams, good health, luck, fortune and happiness to you. May you have years full of happiness to come. Happy Birthday dear sister!"

An hour ago, it was my little sister's birthday. I have not seen my sister dressing up for a while and today she looks absolutely beautiful. She had on a green dress and I get to help her put on makeup which I was super excited about (she rarely put on any makeup). We had a house party rather than eat out because my sister cannot eat outside food. I don't mind eating homemade food, in fact, it is much healthier but the biggest problem is I am bad at cooking and worst at making cake. For the past two nights, I had been trying to bake a successful cake. I would wait till my sister went to bed before I start my baking process. My first attempt was a disaster, the cake won't even rise but I did find out the reason why is because I was baking it with a small oven (the ones you can toast your bread). So I then placed it in the regular oven and the cake did rise but by the time I took it out, it was burnt. My second attempt was a little better but I would say that is the ugliest cake I've ever seen. Everything worked out fine until when I tried to take the cake out of the pan, it was sticking to the pan so hard that by the time I got it out, there are cracks on the cake. This is why my sister had an ugly cake for her birthday. Nonetheless, we spent a wonderful evening together.

Back to our makeup tutorial, as requested by some of you, I made you guys my rainbow makeup tutorial. Hope you like it!

 - do the regular skin care routine (apply toner, face cream and eye cream)
- apply face primer as this will prepare your skin for makeup and smooth out your skin - I use Revlon Photoready Primer
- apply foundation/bb cream - I use Skin 79 bb cream instead of foundation because I find it looks more natural and adhere better to my skin
- Before applying eyeshadow, always apply eye primer as it will make the colours to stand out more and to last longer (this step is a definite MUST for this makeup) - I use Revlon Photoready eye primer
- use eyebrow pencil/eyeshadow to draw out your brow - I use Coastal Scent prism eyeshadow palette to draw out my brow

Start by applying hot pink eyeshadow on the corner of your eye
 then orange eyeshadow,
 light blue eyeshadow
and finally purple eyeshadow
- Use a blender to blend the four colours
- Using a liquid eyeliner, draw the fake eyelashes in - I use NYC liquid eyeliner
- then using a white eyeliner pencil and draw a eyeline above your lower eyelashes as this will make your eyes look bigger - I use Essence Kajal pencil
Apply upper and lower false eyelashes to make your eyes look even bigger - I got it from eBay
To create a small lips, use a concealer to cover the two sides of your lips - I use Almay eye concealer
Apply hot pink lipstick in the middle to create the mini mouth - I use Wet n Wild lipstick
 And this completes the look!

Hope you enjoy this tutorial! My next makeup tutorial will be on the robot makeup, so keep an eye out for it. The Closet 365 is intended to be a fashion/style blog, so I have decided all the makeup tutorials are by request only. Simply leave me a comment for any makeup look on the post and I will prepare for it.
Thank you all for the beautiful comments from last post and I wish you all have a fabulous evening!
