A Love Hate Relationship

This is how I would describe my relationship with my siblings. I was born in a big family where I have four siblings and I am the second oldest of them all. My oldest sister and I were the closest because we were only one and half years apart. Throughout our childhood, we were always competing whether it be school marks or attention seeking, there were not a time where we would stop fighting until separation do us apart. Now that I look back, most of the time we fought was for the stupidest reason.

After my sister graduated from university, she moved out to pursuit her master heading toward to career dream. I was left living with my younger brother and sister. I fight a lot with my brother, well more like yell at him a lot especially during his teenage years because I don't understand what was he thinking and he doesn't understand mine. He would bring friends to stay over at our place few times a week that would drive me crazy and I have no say in that cause he just won't listen. Many times I would think to myself wish that he will move out of the house but when things do happen to go my way, this is when I realize how important my sisters and brothers are to me and how much I love them. We fought, we laughed, we grew up together, this is what makes us sisters and brothers, this is what makes us best friends. I hate them at times, yet I love them more.

Brought to you this gold metallic makeup look x denim outfit. Recently I dug up some really old cellphone diamond sticker that I decided to make use off along with this makeup look. Let me know what you guys think.

Gold metallic makeup. At first I thought the gold metallic makeup is exaggerate enough for the sunlight, but as you can see I was wrong. My makeup disappear with the sunlight :(
 What I am wearing:
Denim top: thrifted
Tie Dye Ripped Jeans: Wrangler old jean that I DIY with bleach and rips
Shoes: Zara
Necklace: Forever 21 gift from my best friend
Spike earrings: Little Burgundy

This jean took forever to make, it took me two days to bleach it this effect and it's only at the bottom and the rips took me hours to pull the string out. Originally I plan to throw it away, after I ripped and bleached it, I am in love with it again!
All the beautiful and lovely comments are very much appreciated and I thank you.
For more pictures, you can go here :) Have an awesome evening guys!

Joy to the Rainbow

"The more you know who you are, what you want, the less you let things upset you."
- Bob Harris, "Lost in Translation"

I saw this quote from a friend's Facebook and I find it very true indeed. Ever since I started this blog, I have become a very happy girl. I feel like I was given a vent to channel through my creativity.
Lately, I was extremely addicted with experimenting different makeup looks and today, I brought to you guys what I called the rainbow makeup look. This look is as the name said inspired by the scene of a rainbow. Some people love to stare at the sky, while others like to look at the stars, but for me I am especially in love with the rainbow. Just seeing the seven colours will bring some colours to my mood. I still remember when I was little, I read a lot of books that describe how beautiful the rainbow is and I long to see one for the longest time but at that time, I was living in Hong Kong. And seeing a rainbow is extremely rare. I did not seen a real rainbow until I moved to Canada when I was nine years old and this is one of the reason why I love the beauty of Vancouver so much. Until this day, whenever I see a rainbow, I would snap a shot of it even when I've seen it many times.

And here are the pictures! I am so sorry for the over exposure quality because both my boyfriend and I don't know how to adjust the white balance of the camera!

Rainbow makeup
I am so sorry for the over exposure
 What I am wearing:
Tee-shirt - Thrifted
Sunglasses - Aldo
Coral Shorts - Bluenote

Part of Me

"I can no other answer make, but, thanks, and thanks."
William Shakespeare

This is essentially what I want to say to all of you, those who left beautiful comments on my posts and those who read my blog (I know a lot of my close friends who are non-bloggers are reading my blog to show their support) and I sincerely thank you! All of your comments especially the lovely comments from last post means tremendous lots to me. There is always a part of me who love to play dress up and do extreme makeup which is why I love Halloween (even though this is a Satan's holiday), Canada Day, Canucks playoff nights or just any holiday that give me a chance to do some extreme dress up and not get laugh by people. I have been hiding this part of me until I started this blog when I have a chance to meet a lot of  you bloggers who have such strong passion for fashion and beauty. Your lovely comments have given me strength and taught me to embrace what I love to do. Ever since I started this blog, everyday becomes an exciting and happy day for me. I no longer have to wait for a chance to play dress up, I can do it anytime and anywhere. Oh how I love blogging!

Brought to you guys an outfit that I bought at a thrift store. This time I paired up my look with a short hairstyle wig with a red makeup. I have always wanted to know how I look like in short hair but did not want to let go of my long hair (since I shaved my head back in high school) so instead I bought some wigs. Let me know what you guys think of this look.

My red makeup, not sure if you call this extreme or not but here it is
 What I am wearing:
Sunglasses: Aldo
Black blazer: Thrifted
Boots: bought it a long time ago, can't remember where sorry

Finally I have time to do my nails and match it with my look YAY!
I call this my hooker boots
Once again, thank you for stopping by and leaving those beautiful comments. Let me know what you think of this look. Look forward to hear from you :) For more pictures, please check out my facebook page here.

What does Being the Norm Really Mean

Lately, I've turned into a makeup addict. I spent hours after hours finding makeup inspiration and spent hundreds of dollars on makeup simply because I strongly believe makeup is one of the fundamental in completing a look. I am especially addicted to the crazy/extreme makeup which I called it the face art. Regular makeup only emphasize your existing face features but with extreme makeup, you are basically the painter of your own face. Aside from trying out different outfits everyday, I am also testing out different extreme makeup that goes with each outfit.

On the weekend that the night market was opened, I become very daring and decided to experiment my new extreme makeup (is a combination of red and white eyeshadow all over my entire eye area, I am so sorry that I forgot to take picture of my makeup of that night). Before I went to the night market, I already have a feeling that a lot of people will stare at my abnormal makeup but what I did not expect was to be laughed at by a couple. My friends and I were shopping along the snack/food aisles when a couple walked by me and the girl was pointing at my makeup and laughing at me while her boyfriend gave me a freak face. Just because I am not wearing the usual or what I called the norm makeup, I don't deserve to be discriminate against from what I like to wear on my face/body! That night I was laughed at because I am not following the "normal" protocol. But what does being the norm really mean? There is no standard that outlines how to dress normal. To me, being the norm essentially means following the majority, do what everybody else is doing. That night I was not wearing what everybody is wearing which makes me a different/weird one out of the crowd but if the situation is turned around, if that night was a Halloween night, would I be laughed at. Of course not because everybody is all dressed up/wearing crazy makeup. All I am saying is I love my style, please respect that! I don't laugh at yours, so please don't laugh at my style.

Today I brought to you guys my hoodie style along with my exaggerated facial features.
YO!

 What I am wearing:
Blue hoodie: Unknown
Galaxy print top: Brandy Melville

Born to Love the Beauty of Nature

Today brought to you guys is me wearing this beautiful Aztec print long skirt which I fall in love with at first sight. I have always love all sorts of prints on fashion pieces whether it be floral prints, animals prints or ancient art prints like this one but I never know what the correct term for that pattern is. My fashion dictionary is so limited that sometimes when I am commenting on someone's outfit, I can only use general terms such top, bottom, bags, shoes etc. To be honest with you, I don't even know what they are call in my first language (Cantonese). My fashion term is so bad that there was once when I was complimenting a lady's beautiful dress, she actually responded as follow "It's a skirt not a dress but thanks." Yes I once thought a long skirt is called a dress and yes I do have a lot of this embarrassing moments in life that teach me new vocabulary each day!

I love fashion very very much but at the same time I also feel ashamed for not knowing the basics of what I love. So I started checking out a lot of the awesome posts from you bloggers (I do read every single posts that I commented) and learned a lot about fashion including the term Aztec prints on my skirt. I also do research (yes I am a nerd) and my most recent research is on the Aztec print which I would love to share with you. The Aztec print was originated in Mexico and created by a group of tribes. Their arts is based purely on their appreciation for insects, birds, fish and animals. I think that humans are born to bond with the wildlife and nature. As a child, I am interested in all sorts of animal that's why my room was filled with stuffed animals until this day. Even though I don't know a thing about the Aztec print before, the inner meaning of the print itself spoke to me and attract me to the skirt.

And here are the pictures:

Hello all you lovelies!

Feeling Especially Lucky

Few months ago, I had to quit all my jobs (I was working four part-time jobs back then) to be my sister's primary caregiver. One of the jobs that I was working in was a senior assisted living home. Due to lack of funding, from time to time, the event manager will come up with various fundraising events hoping to raise some fund for the senior home. One of the events is the Survivor contest. How this contest works is we put down $5 to bet on which contestant will win the Survivor (a reality television game show). Each person can only bet on one contestant which means whoever pay first will have more contestants to pick from as oppose to those who pay late. Before I quit this job, even though I don't watch that show, I place a bet in this contest in the thought of donating the $5 to the home. By the time I paid, I am only left with three contestants to choose from so I randomly pick a woman. Surprisingly, recently I received an email from the senior home telling me that I've won the contest and that I've won $50!! Even though it's not a very big amount, but I am already feeling very lucky :)

Another thing that make me feel I am especially lucky was after hearing a life story of one of my neighbors. She was born in a very poor family in China. Life was so poor that there was never enough food nor can she afford education. The only way to earn a better living was to escape to another country. This was very common back in the 70s and 80s when many cannot even afford the basic needs. Her whole village (about 80 people) chipped in and purchased a small ship planning to escape to a refugee island in Taiwan. While they were on the way there, their ship's engine died. None of the people know how to fix the ship and from then onward, their ship basically float with the ocean waves. To make thing worst, there weren't any food left in the ship. For over 30 days, they were stuck in the sea with no food and just half a glass of water each day. There were many bigger ships that passed by them but no one was willing to lend a hand. At about day 36, their ship began to sink, they had no choice but to tear the ship apart and use the wood as a life belt. Thankfully by then, they were actually very close to seeing some land (and that is Philippine). A little boy was playing with his father's binoculars and saw the 80 of them floating in the sea and that was they were rescued and became refugees of Philippine. After residing in Philippine for a few years, the lady along her husband and children immigrated to Canada and this was when she finally live a better life here. Her story reminded me how really lucky I am!

Blogger Without Makeup Day ARGHHHH!

The other day my friend told me that May 14th is blogger without makeup day (yes, I did not know this until two days ago). For the past two days, I have been struggling hard on rather or not to show you guys my naked face. I started wearing makeup when I was in year one of my university. Back then all I had on was blue eyeshadow and eyeline. I have been wearing just the eye makeup (and only the blue colour) for the longest time. I did not learn how to do a full makeup (with foundation + primer + lipstick) until few months back when I have tons of free time watching all sorts of Youtube tutorials. Now looking back, my friends always tease me as the girl who always have a blob of blue colour on her eyes-_-". I don't even know how I can walk out like that back then! So, that's the little story of my makeup life.

In the end, I did brought to you guys a picture of me without any makeup or any editing but there is no outfit that go with it because I strongly believe makeup is one of the essential in completing a look. Before I show you the picture, I would like to give you a review of two sunscreens that I recently tried since summer is coming yay! As much as I love the sun, I also know that it is my skin's biggest enemy. Much of the known effects caused by sun's UV light includes wrinkling and premature aging. So to better protect and maintain our skin, sunscreen is definitely an essential daily skincare step.

The two sunscreens that I tried:
What I love:
- it has a little foundation powder in it, so for people with even skin tone, you can even escape from putting on foundation and your skin will look vibrant
- it's very light and oil free. I could not feel the layer of sunscreen on my face at all even with makeup on.
- you can apply it to delicate eye area

What I don't:
- have to use makeup remover to wash it off as it has a little of foundation powder in it
- the price is slightly higher than the drugstore sunscreens

Total rating: 4.5 stars

As you can see, it look exactly like foundation

 What I love:
- the price is relatively inexpensive for spf 55 sunscreen as compare to Clinique (it's only $10.99)
- in very liquid form and very light

What I don't:
- I can still feel the thin layer of sunscreen on my face, so did not work well with makeup for me
- cannot apply to eye area

Total ratings: 3.5 stars
And this is how the Neutrogena ultra sheer liquid sunscreen look like
If you guys have better sunscreen recommendation, I would love to hear about them. And now, the moment you've been waiting for (deep breath)...

so here it is. There is no editing to the photo except for the my blog stamp. Even my friends have not seen my naked face for a long time and you guys get to see it, how I love you so!!
Happy Blogger without Makeup Day! And again, I thank you all for the lovely comments and support. Love you all!

A Bride Pretend-to-be

I have reached the age where a lot of people who are the same age as me that I know are either getting marry or engaged. Although I don't plan to get marry until I am 30, seeing a lot of my high school friends changing their relationship status on Facebook does ring a bell in me. From enjoying the paradise of a dating relationship, I suddenly feel the rush that maybe I should get marry too. Peer pressure just never goes away, does it? But thank goodness I am the type of person who think a lot, worry incredibly more which is what stop my urge. I don't want to get marry for the sake of everyone else is doing it. I want to get marry because I think he is my man!

To me, the best part about marriage is really all about the DRESS!  I couldn't care less about where or how the ceremony/wedding reception will be. And plus I am not a big fan of the Asian style wedding party. My boyfriend on the other hand thinks this is a once in a lifetime biggest moment of his life and that our wedding should be like a fairy tale. He was so into that idea that when I told him all I care about is the dress, the wedding pictures, the vow and of course him, he got very upset! I would much rather spending all the money toward our honeymoon, just the two of us. That's my thoughts about wedding. Let me know what you guys think...

In the meantime, I am going to put on a white dress to satisfy my wedding hunger.

Latest addiction: Nude make-up
 What I am wearing:
White necklace: H&M
White drape: same DIY from a tee-shirt
Skirt: unknown
Wedge: Marc Fisher
Earrings: Ardene

My attempt to be princess like = Fail!
I meant to show you my necklace but ended up with a blurry picture...
Here, a better picture of my white necklace, got it on sale for $3 SCORE!
Finally a more natural picture of me!

In case you haven't notice, all pictures are taken by myself with a tripod. That's why some of the pictures appear to be at an awkward angle or my feet got cut off etc. This is my first attempt of self taking picture and it took over an hour! Good thing that I had my picture taken in my house, if it was taken outside, I am sure people will think I am crazy running back and forth to the camera.

I can't stress enough how much all of your comments meant to me and I thank you!!!! And don't forget if you want to check out my pictures, please visit and like my facebook page here. Have an awesome weekend!
